FAQ's
How is the RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampon different from traditional tampons?
RepHresh Brilliant is the ONLY tampon that reduces the usual vaginal pH increase during your period. Traditional tampons simply absorb and retain fluids. Menstrual fluids have a pH higher than normal vaginal pH and tampons retain these fluids inside your body.
RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons are the first tampons designed to reduce this feminine pH increase. They provide excellent absorbency and leak protection like traditional tampons, but RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons also have pH-Reducing Micro-Ribbons that reduce the usual vaginal pH during your period. No other tampons offer this benefit.
How do the pH-Reducing Micro-Ribbons work?
After insertion, the pH tampon provides a rapid reduction of feminine pH to within the normal range. Then, as the pH tampon absorbs more fluid, the pH-Reducing Micro-Ribbons’ flow-release technology provides additional support as your body needs it to maintain the vaginal pH reduction throughout the tampon usage period.
What are the active ingredients in RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons?
The RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampon contains 2 active ingredients: Citric Acid and L-lactide. These are natural ingredients that reduce the usual feminine pH increase that occurs during your period. Citric Acid is a natural organic acid that occurs in the metabolism of virtually all living things. L-lactide is a special form of lactic acid. Lactic acid is naturally found within a healthy woman’s vagina.

Why is there an expiration date on the box of RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons?
RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons have an expiration date due to its active ingredients that make it possible for the tampon to reduce the usual vaginal pH increase that occurs during a period.
Does the vaginal pH reduction last the entire time that I am wearing the tampon?
Yes, the vaginal pH-Reducing Micro-Ribbons within the RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampon allow it to maintain the vaginal pH reduction throughout the tampon usage period. As more fluid is absorbed, more active ingredient is released. Please remember that you should change your tampon at least every 4 to 8 hours.
Can the RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampon reduce feminine pH too much?
No. RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons are designed to reduce the usual vaginal pH increase during your period to the normal non-menstrual vaginal pH range. The pH tampon cannot lower your vaginal pH too much. If your vaginal pH is already within the normal non-menstrual vaginal pH range, the pH tampon will maintain it within that range by reducing the vaginal pH increase that usually occurs during your period.
Why does vaginal pH increase during your period?
Blood has a pH of 7.4. The normal non-menstrual vaginal pH range is 3.5 to 4.5. During your period, the presence of blood causes your vaginal pH to increase. Tampons absorb the fluids that cause vaginal pH to increase and retain them within your body.
Can I use RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons to reduce feminine pH when I am not having my period?
No. Tampons should only be used during your period. When you are not having your period, you can use RepHresh Vaginal Gel. RepHresh Vaginal Gel is clinically shown to maintain healthy vaginal pH and eliminate feminine odor.
Why is vaginal (or feminine) pH so important?
Gynecologists have long been aware of the importance of maintaining a normal feminine pH, and your gynecologist or health care provider is your best resource to discuss how feminine pH relates to your own personal health. Vaginal pH is normally 3.5 to 4.5 in a healthy woman but can become elevated as a result of hormone fluctuations, sex without a condom, feminine products and especially menstruation.

If vaginal pH usually increases during my period, why haven’t I heard about it?
While gynecologists often talk to their patients about vaginal pH and its role in their feminine health, they may not have mentioned the connection to your period because they didn’t have a solution to offer their patients – until now. RepHresh Brilliant pH Tampons are the first and only tampons that are clinically shown to reduce the usual vaginal pH increase during your period. We encourage you to discuss how feminine pH relates to your own personal health with your gynecologist or healthcare provider.
